A first date by the water, far from downtown

At the island's eastern tip, facing the river, this neighbourhood of the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough has an old village core and a riverfront of its own. For something casual, that position helps: you're far from downtown, yet everything a first date needs is right here, from a resto-pub with bowling to a walk by the water.

On the site, nothing's rushed: your profile in three steps, profiles to look at for free from your phone, and a Gold subscription when you want to write. After that, a first drink at the resto-pub on Boulevard du Tricentenaire takes two lines to suggest.

There's no metro station here, so people go by the river and the old village. Place du Village opens onto the water, the Maison de la culture is on Rue Notre-Dame Est, the Maison Antoine-Beaudry is a well-known landmark, and Parc de la Traversée runs its footpath and bike path between Rue Victoria and Rue du Prince-Albert.

Where to meet in the neighbourhood

Drinks

Resto-pub BoulZeye

Boulevard du Tricentenaire

A resto-pub with draft beer, food and activities: bowling, laser tag, escape rooms, arcade games. A round of bowling or an arcade game breaks the ice better than a long silence, and the draft beer does the rest.

A meal

Allô mon Coco Pointe-aux-Trembles

Rue Sherbrooke Est

A breakfast and brunch restaurant that specializes in egg dishes. Eggs, coffee and daylight: brunch keeps a first date simple, and nobody feels committed to the whole evening.

A night out

Maison de la culture de Pointe-aux-Trembles

Rue Notre-Dame Est

A performance hall and an exhibition space, with free entry to the exhibitions. A free exhibition makes a first date with no cost and no pressure, and an evening show gives you something to talk about on the way out.

A walk

Parc de la Traversée

Between Rue Victoria and Rue du Prince-Albert

A linear park with a footpath and a bike path. Pick a spot along it to meet, then walk or ride as far as the mood takes you, with no plan set in advance.

Is Pointe-aux-Trembles too far out for a hookup?

Not if you live there, and that's the point: everything is on hand. A round of bowling at BoulZeye, brunch on Rue Sherbrooke Est, a walk on Place du Village by the river: you have plenty for a first date without crossing the island. Say plainly what you're after, then create your free profile and see who wants the same thing.

Your questions before you start

How does a hookup work out at the end of the island?
Simply: you create a free profile, browse profiles by age and by what people are looking for, then take a Gold subscription to write. The first date then happens in a public spot in the neighbourhood, a resto-pub, a brunch or a walk by the river, and each of you gets there on your own.
Where should I suggest a first meeting?
On Place du Village, on Boulevard Saint-Jean-Baptiste, by the river: it's a public square where you can spot each other easily before choosing where to go. If the weather won't cooperate, the Maison de la culture on Rue Notre-Dame Est is a sheltered meeting point, with free entry to its exhibitions.
The neighbourhood is far from the metro: how do we organize?
No metro station serves the neighbourhood, so you come by car, bus or bike. Rue Sherbrooke Est and Rue Notre-Dame Est are the easiest landmarks to give. If the other person is coming from the west of the island, pick a spot on Rue Sherbrooke Est, and save the old village for the walk.
A spot to surprise someone on a second date?
Parc du Vieux-Moulin, on Rue Notre-Dame Est, surrounds a windmill at the entrance to Vieux-Pointe-aux-Trembles. Suggesting a walk there shows you know the area, and the windmill hands you an easy topic of conversation, before you carry on toward the river if you both feel like it.
How does signing up actually work?
In three steps, from your phone or your computer. First who you are and who you're looking for, then your date of birth, then your email. Joining costs nothing, and you can browse profiles right after. You take a Gold subscription only on the day you want to write to someone.

A round of bowling to break the ice?

Your free profile takes three steps, and the lanes at Resto-pub BoulZeye are ready for what comes next.
